Lexington’s Academic Excellence

This is exciting!  Our own Jonas Clarke Middle School was one of just four schools in the country named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education.

We’re used to academic awards in Lexington, but it’s still nice to see Jonas Clarke also won this award in 1992-93 and Bridge Elementary won in 2010-11.  Our public schools are widely acclaimed as among the best – not just in the state or the country, but in the world.

When it comes to Clarke, I speak from experience.  Our older children are graduates of Clarke, and our youngest is a 7th grader.  We’ve seen that Clarke isn’t just an academic factory; it’s a caring place where students make friends, get involved in extracurricular activities and in the community, and get ready for high school.

Our schools – and not just Clarke – are also a good place for new families to connect to the community.  The schools and the myriad parent support organizations welcome all, and provide opportunities for new families to get involved and get connected to the community.
